Lovely shop. Nice staff. Well trained"shop dog".
I have done my fair share of supporting this locally owned shop, having bought a couple of overpriced bags for my daughter and stopping by for dessert on a few occasions, but those days are over! I stopped in today just to browse. Owner spiels all the specials including something if making a $100 purchase. I chuckled and told her that I am currently unemployed and would not be spending $100 today. Her reply, "What are you doing here? I would be out looking for a job."
Seriously? How stinking rude.
As owner of this wonderful store, I welcome you to come visit our unique barn. We've been in business for almost 9 years now and counting. This setting is on almost 3 acres with a barn surrounded by gardens and fun yard art. There is an outdoor pergola for outside dining and entertaining. Our staff is welcoming and engaging with your needs and I am here to ensure you have enhanced service. We serve lunch daily and all day. Open year round - you'll see local flavors of wines, honeys, dips, condiments, gifts and now even women's apparel. Seasonal produce available and most of it coming from our gardens. Make it a daycation at the Farmer's Daughter's Market - you'll love what we have to offer.
This place isn't what it used to be. It used to be charming and fun to shop around in. I like to think a lot of stuff was "local". Now it seems it is all from China and just random junk which makes me sad. The food is so good but it is hard to enjoy while the employees are hollering around the store. All of this is fine but the one thing that makes it hard to go back is how pushy the employees are. Maybe they make commission? I don't know. But I couldn't walk anywhere without them holding some expensive piece of clothing up and telling me how good it would look on me. Or how good this product is and it would look so good with this and blah blah blah. It is very cramped in there as it is and every turn they would shove something new in my face. By the end of my (short) visit I was crabby and had a headache. It used to have charm, a place I would go to for some zen time... now it just seems like its about the sale and to get you in and out fast and make a ton of money off of you.
What a great place to lunch and shop without leaving the building. A lovely barn filled with vegetables in season and lots of items you never knew you needed! Wonderful homemade soups and desserts. I think some of the recipes are handed down from one great cook to another.
